The ultimate guide to Compac worktops

If you’re looking for the best worktop for your new kitchen, quartz Compac is well worth considering.

This ultimate guide to Compac worktops tells you everything you need to know to help you decide if they’re right for you. It covers what Compac is made of and its advantages. Plus, it gives information about the colours and finishes available, the design freedom it allows, and how to buy and install it.

What are Compac worktops made of?

Compac is a technological quartz worktop made from 93-95% pure quartz mixed with polyester or natural resin. It boasts excellent durability and outstanding beauty. And, unlike other cheap quartz worktops, you can trust its premium quality to last for decades.

How durable are Compac worktops?

When you buy a kitchen worktop, your priority will probably be to make sure you love the colour and style and that it looks great in your kitchen. But it’s important to consider the practicalities too. Because a worktop that gets easily scratched or stained won’t look good for long.

So, let’s look at the advantages of quartz Compac surfaces:

  • Scratch, abrasion and impact-resistant
The high percentage of quartz in Compac worktops makes them incredibly hard and resilient. So, you don’t have to worry about leaving marks or chips if you drop or slide something across the surface. You can cut on it, too, although, as with any worktop, we recommend using a chopping board.

  • Stain-resistant
Quartz is a non-porous material which means nothing can penetrate its surface. So, you don’t need to panic, even if you spill the usual ‘danger’ culprits, like red wine or coffee, because they won’t leave a permanent mark.

  • Maintenance-free and easy to clean
After a Compac worktop has been installed, you can relax. Because the only effort you need to maintain it is to wipe it down with soapy water after use.

  • Food safe and hygienic
With its non-porous surface, there’s nowhere for mould or bacteria to take route and grow. And the material has no nasty chemicals that could contaminate food either.

  • Durable and long-lasting
Compac worktops are backed by a 33-year warranty. This is a nod to the manufacturer’s confidence in their product’s durability.

There is just one thing you need to be careful with:

  • Protect the surface from high temperatures
Compac has some heat resistance but is not heat proof. So, it’s best to protect the surface from hot pans and baking trays, etc., with hot pan trivets or heat pads.

What design choices do Compac worktops give you?

When it comes to design, Compac doesn’t limit you at all. You get total flexibility to create a kitchen to suit your tastes and needs. Here’s how:

  • Compac worktops can be installed on any brand of kitchen cabinets
It doesn’t matter where you buy your kitchen cabinets from. Any brand is strong enough to hold Compac. So, you’ve got the flexibility to choose whichever kitchen supplier you want.

  • Compac worktops are available in three thicknesses
You can have 12, 20 or 30mm worktops to suit your kitchen style and preferences. But not all colours come in all thicknesses, so always check.

  • Compac worktops can be curved and shaped
Not all worktops can be cut into curves and shapes, but Compac can. That allows you to match them to curved corner cabinets, round sinks, oblong breakfast bars, or any other shape you want.

  • Compac worktops allow you to have an undermount sink and flush-mounted hob
If you love the seamless look, an undermount sink and flush-mounted hob are a must. They sit flush with the worktop’s surface, so they look less conspicuous, blending beautifully into the kitchen. You can also have a recessed drainer or drainer grooves cut into the worktop.
  • Compac has matching upstands and splashbacks available
Upstands and splashbacks protect your walls from food and liquid splashes. When you choose Compac, you can get upstands and splashbacks in the same colour as your worktop. But be aware that the thickness of your splashback and worktop must be the same to ensure a perfect colour match.

  • Compac worktops allow you to have pop-up sockets
If you’re working with appliances on a kitchen island, you’ll need a socket rather than trailing cables across a walkway. Pop-up sockets are the perfect solution. They’re concealed below the worktop and pop up when they’re needed.

  • We’ll make your worktop. This is done at the fabricator’s workshop. So, there will be no noise and messy cutting at your home when we fit it.
