Atlas Plan care and maintenance
Atlas Plan is a sintered stone material that’s incredibly resistant to wear and tear and maintenance-free. In addition, its high stain resistance makes it effortless to keep clean, so it practically looks after itself.
However, there are a few things you can do to help keep your worktop looking pristine for decades. Simply follow the instructions below.
How to clean Atlas Plan worktops
General cleaning
To remove dirt or dust, wipe the surface with a clean, dry cloth, then use a neutral detergent, such as CIF Actifizz or a similar cleaner.
Removing aggressive stains
Atlas Plan has a non-porous surface, so nothing will permanently stain your worktop. However, wipe spills up before they dry to avoid more rigorous cleaning. If you get a stubborn stain, remove it with a cleaner suitable for the type of stain. For example:
- Grease, coffee, wine, fruit juice, coke, ink and marker pen: use a degreaser-based cleaner such as CIF cream
- Rust: use a specialist rust remover
- Silicone: use silicone-removing detergent
- Wax and resin: use solvent
- Aluminium marks, pencil marks and limescale: use a descaling cleaner
Always test the cleaner on an inconspicuous area first to ensure it’s suitable.
Don’t use specialist worktop cleaning products
Many specialist stone worktop cleaners claim to enhance shine and protect your work surface. However, we recommend not using these on sintered stone. They can lead to a build-up of chemicals that damage your worktop over time.
Take care when handling chemicals
Always check the instructions when using any chemical products on your worktop. Some chemicals may not be suitable for use on stone, and some may need diluting. Do not use:
- concentrated hydrochloric acid
- caustic soda
- hydrofluoric acid

Heat exposure
Atlas Plan is temperature-resistant, so you can place hot pans directly onto the surface without causing damage.
Avoid scratches
Although Atlas Plan is scratch-resistant, it is not scratch-proof. So, while it will withstand everyday scratches and scrapes, we recommend using a chopping board when cutting with sharp knives.
