Caring for quartz worktops: TechniStone® cleaning and maintenance

Thanks to TechniStone’s® hardwearing properties, it’s maintenance-free and easy to keep clean. However, following the recommendations below for daily use and cleaning will ensure your worktop keeps its like-new appearance for many years.

Follow the instructions below to learn everything you need to know about caring for quartz worktops.

How to clean TechniStone® worktops

General cleaning
Wipe the surface with a dry cloth to remove dirt and dust, then clean it with CIF Actifizz or a similar cleaner using a green and yellow washing-up sponge. Afterwards, dry the surface with a cloth.

Removing aggressive stains
Nothing will permanently stain TechniStone®, but some substances may require more aggressive cleaning if left to dry. Try to wipe up spillages immediately, especially wine, tea, coffee, oil, etc. If anything does leave a mark, remove it with CIF cream or equivalent, rubbing the area gently in a circular motion.

Please note, matt and concrete finish colours need a little more care than polished colours.

Take care when handling chemicals

Always check the instructions when using any chemical products on your worktop. Some chemicals may not be suitable for use on quartz, and some may need diluting. In particular, avoid exposure to:

  • strong cleaners for toilets, ovens, grills, stainless steel and hoods
  • hydrochloric acid
  • phosphoric acid
  • sodium hydroxide
  • potassium hydroxide
  • hydrogen peroxide

If these chemicals touch your worktop, rinse away immediately with clean water.

Don’t use specialist worktop cleaning products

Many specialist worktop cleaners claim to enhance shine and protect your work surface. However, we don’t recommend using these for quartz. They can lead to a build-up of chemicals that can damage your worktop over time.

Caring for quartz worktops

Do not expose to heat sources
Quartz can only withstand very high temperatures for brief periods. Therefore, you should always protect the surface from hot saucepans, baking trays, heated appliances, etc. with a hot pad or trivet.

Avoid scratches
TechniStone® is scratch-resistant but not scratch-proof. So, we recommend using a chopping board when cutting with sharp knives. Also, take care when handling dishes and metal objects, especially around the corners and edges of your worktop, to avoid knocks.
