Compac surfaces care and maintenance
Compac is a technological quartz, which gives it exceptional resistance. It’s stain, scratch, abrasion, and impact resistant, so caring for Compac quartz worktops is easy.
Follow the instructions below to maintain your worktop’s shine and natural appearance for many years.
How to clean Compac surfaces
General cleaning
To clean quartz Compac worktops, wipe the surface with a neutral cleaner and a cloth. Then rinse it with water and dry it with a cloth. Worktops with a glacé finish may require a little more care as marks are more visible. So, if cleaning with a neutral cleaner is not enough, use a slightly alkaline cleaner applied with a microfibre cloth.
Removing aggressive stains
Quartz Compac worktops have a non-porous surface, which means nothing will permanently stain them. However, some substances may require more aggressive cleaning. For stubborn stains, you can use chemicals such as diluted bleach (10%), alcohol, diluted hydrochloric acid (10%), weak degreaser, limescale remover and vinegar. However, always refer to the maintenance guide to check which cleaner is best for your specific stain.
Please note, matt and concrete finish colours need a little more care than polished colours.
Do not use the following chemicals
- Strippers
- Caustic soda
- Products with a pH higher than 10
- Products with a chlorine base, such as oven cleaners, furniture waxes, oily soaps and products to unclog
- Products containing hydrofluoric acid
- Products containing dichloromethane
If any of these chemicals come into contact with your worktop, rinse away immediately with water. And if you use bleach or solvents, ensure they are not left on the surface for long periods and always rinse them away with water.
Don’t use specialist worktop cleaning products
Many specialist worktop cleaners claim to enhance shine and protect your work surface. However, when it comes to stone worktops, we recommend you don’t use these. This is because they can lead to a build-up of chemicals on the surface that can damage your worktop over time.
How to care for quartz Compac worktops
Avoid standing water
Do not leave wet items on your worktop for long periods, for example, damp cloths or draining racks, as standing water could leave water marks.
Avoid scratches
Although Compac surfaces are scratch-resistant, they’re not scratch-proof. So, while your worktop will withstand everyday scratches and scrapes, we recommend using a chopping board when cutting with sharp knives.
