Durasein® care and maintenance

Like all acrylic worktops, Durasein® is resistant to heat, stains and scratches. However, it’s not heat, stain and scratch-proof. So, it’s essential to carry out a few easy routine care and maintenance tasks to keep your worktop looking like new. But don’t despair if you accidentally mark your worktop because it’s repairable! So minor marks can be buffed away, and more severe damage can be repaired by a professional.

Follow the Durasein® care and maintenance tips below to keep your worktop in good shape.

Cleaning Durasein® worktops

General cleaning
To clean Durasein® worktops, use warm soapy water or an ammonia-based cleaner. Then rinse and dry the surface.

Removing aggressive stains
Some substances may require more aggressive cleaning, particularly if left to dry on the surface. To remove stubborn stains, use a multi-surface cleaner, bleach, bleach-based cleaner or a non-abrasive cleaner.

Avoid harsh chemicals
Avoid getting harsh chemicals on your worktop, such as strong acids, paint thinner, mineral spirits, and acetone-based nail polish remover. If they come into contact with your worktop, rinse away immediately with soapy water and dry thoroughly.

How to care for your worktop

Protect the surface from hot temperatures
Durasein® is not heat-proof, so hot saucepans, baking trays, deep fat fryers etc., should not be placed directly on its surface. Instead, always use a hot pad or trivet. Also, take care with Durasein® sinks. When pouring hot liquids into the sink, run cold water at the same time.

Avoid scratches
When cutting with sharp knives, always use a chopping board to avoid getting scratches and cuts on your worktop. However, minor scratches can be repaired. To do this, rub the surface with a green Scotch-Brite™ pad in a circular motion. Then scrub the area with a white Scotch-Brite™ pad and a non-abrasive cleaner. To restore a gloss surface, use a cleaner designed for solid surfaces. Deep cuts and severe scratches may need to be repaired by a professional.
